We’re working together to help Penrith reach its full potential.

Our mission

Grow Penrith is a coalition of local businesses, community groups and peak bodies determined to see Penrith grow to its full potential.

After seeing our local economy placed in such uneasy waters at the hands of the pandemic, one thing is clear: we need governments to do more to help our region get back on its feet.

Western Sydney and its small businesses are the two engine rooms that power the NSW economy. Families in Penrith deserve all the same opportunities that are afforded to families in harbour-side suburbs closer to the CBD.

Penrith shouldn’t be taken for granted; it’s importance cannot be overlooked. For our area to grow, we must get maximum use of what little employment land Penrith has. We must think smartly about planning and the future.

Our people shouldn’t be forced into long commutes to the city or eastern suburbs just to earn a crust.

That’s why Grow Penrith is working hard to demand the creation of our own employment areas - so that people spend less time commuting and more time with family, friends or productively at work.

We need change that encourages local businesses to reach for the stars, take on more challenges, hire that extra staff member, back themselves and, together, Grow Penrith.

Because what’s good for Penrith, is good for everyone.

Our recovery starts with the Nepean Business Park.

It’s critical we don’t waste this opportunity for economic recovery. We must create the right environment for Penrith to thrive.

The Nepean Business Park will inject $1.95 billion into the economy during the construction phase alone, generating $500 million a year in economic activity to the Penrith economy on completion; $300 million of yearly wages which will go straight into the back pockets of local workers in the business park.

This business park will create 18,450 jobs overall and nearly 4,000 permanent jobs within the estate on completion. That means more opportunities for the local mechanic who’s looking to expand, for the local salon that’s keen to upscale, for the highly skilled jobs in emerging and future-facing industries, and for our children and grandchildren in school and university.

That’s our mission.

As Penrith grows, opportunities will grow with it.

The business park will lead to significant improvements in the natural environment, rehabilitating an abandoned quarry site and handing back 5.5 acres of private land along the Nepean River to the community for green recreational space.

It will connect local residents with enhanced services and amenities that will improve our quality of life. It will mean greater opportunity for new coffee shops and restaurants, playgrounds, community centres and places for people to gather, enjoy one another’s company and celebrate our wonderful city.

But we are at a critical juncture.

We must not drop the ball.

We, Grow Penrith, will be pushing relentlessly to make sure we make the most of this moment.

That’s our mission.
